The community as a whole plays a crucial role in terms of supporting and spreading awareness in the fight against diabetes.
This year’s Diabetes Walk serves as a cornerstone for raising awareness, promoting healthy lifestyles, and providing support to children living with diabetes.
To help raise awareness and funds for children with type 1 diabetes, we are offering specially designed T-shirts for purchase. By buying a T-shirt, you will show your support during the walk and contribute to vital programs and services that assist children living with diabetes.
The upcoming Diabetes Walk is scheduled for Saturday, 6th July 2024 at Carnivore Gardens; we encourage you to wear your T-shirt proudly at the walk and show your solidarity with the diabetes community.

The Need for Awareness

Diabetes is a condition that affects millions of people worldwide.
Type 1 diabetes is an autoimmune condition where the body attacks insulin-producing cells.
A high number of people still believe that Diabetes is an old people’s disease and remain unaware of the symptoms, risks, and management strategies associated with diabetes in children. The Annual Diabetes Walk aims to bridge this gap by bringing Kenyans together to learn and support children living with Type 1 diabetes.

The Purpose for the Annual Diabetes Walk

The Annual Diabetes Walk is more than just a walk; it is a powerful movement that brings people together for a common cause. Here are some key advantages of participating in this significant event:

  1. Raising Awareness and Education
One of the main goals of the Diabetes Walk is to raise awareness about Type 1 diabetes. Through informative sessions, health booths, and educational materials, participants gain valuable knowledge about the condition. Understanding the symptoms, risk factors, and preventive measures is crucial for early detection and effective management of diabetes.
Attendees will also get a chance to interact with experts, ask questions, and receive guidance on managing their health.
  2. Promoting Healthy Lifestyles
The Diabetes Walk encourages participants to embrace a healthier lifestyle by incorporating walking into their routine. Walking helps control blood sugar levels, improve cardiovascular health, and maintain a healthy weight.
The event also emphasizes the importance of a balanced diet. Nutritionists and dietitians will be present to offer advice on healthy eating habits, potions of nutrients, and meal planning.
  3. Building a Supportive Community
Living with diabetes can be challenging, but knowing that you are not alone makes a significant difference. The Diabetes brings together individuals, families, and friends who share similar experiences and challenges.
Support groups and counseling services are often available at the event, providing emotional and psychological support to those affected by diabetes. Connecting with others who understand their journey can be incredibly uplifting and motivating for individuals living with the condition.
  4. Fundraising
The Annual Diabetes Walk is also a vital fundraising event. The funds raised during the walk go towards supporting children living with Type 1 diabetes in terms of medical supplies and initiatives aimed at improving the quality of life for individuals with diabetes.
